Coarse Fishing Tackle Summary: Daiwa Aggrest Baitcasting Reel

Other fishermen can go after all of the salmon and trout they need. For me, it’s coarse fish. What satisfies me is the struggle of fishing for various kinds. In view of this, my coarse fishing tackle needs to be as flexible as possible. Because I’m careful about money, I do need my tackle to be affordable as well. It shouldn’t be real low-priced, though. I have discovered, through my years of practice, that obtaining low-price inadequately crafted fishing tackle is the perfect way to squander your money. I insist on purchasing equipment that will most likely be good for years to come. I’ve also found that fishing gear from leading brands like Daiwa generally is better designed and has a wider range of features. Coming up are some details concerning a reel manufactured by Daiwa, which has lately caught my eye, the Aggrest Baitcaster.

Coarse Fishing Tackle: Key Features of the Daiwa Aggrest Baitcasting Reel

The light weight Aggrest reel will not forgo speed and competence. With a practical price of close to £115, this is a reel which offers an excellent amalgamation of confirmed Daiwa components. With a compact design, the Aggrest fits nicely into my tackle box because of its low profile. I use it a lot since it contains plenty of the components I’ve seen on higher priced reels in the Daiwa collection. To me, a reel which contains corrosion resistant ball bearings (CRBB) all the way through it along with a high-speed 7.3:1 gear ratio and costs much less than £200, is a great expenditure. The bearing composition includes 4BB, 1RB and 2CRBB. It weight is simply .25kg, also, it will carry 125yd of 14lb test line.

The list of components which come with the Aggrest includes a clicking drag adjustment, a swept handle, an infinite anti-reverse, the Magforce-Z drag adjustment system and a the free-floating aluminium spool. I especially liked the Aggrest’s superior casting ability. I am excited to realise that this reel is a top caster being that I throw a huge amount of light weight rigs. Its spool is totally balanced, in addition to that, the Magforce-Z automatic braking system joins the top traits of magnetic and mechanical designs. This well-made piece of coarse fishing tackle contains a plastic drag star with a strong brass insert as well.

Coarse Fishing Tackle: Ending Remarks on the Daiwa Aggrest Baitcasting Reel

As far as I’m concerned, the retrieve ratio is just right and each time the handle spins, the reel carries back 50cm of line. Since I often fish fast moving water with low resistance baits, I find the Aggrest works well for jerkbaits. Another positive feature of the rapid retrieve ratio is that the angler can bring the lure back when it’s outside the strike zone quickly. The upshot? Not so much time squandered in unsuccessful water. One thing concerning the swept handle, it draws the knobs closer to the side plate and subsequently delivers great leverage and cuts down on unsteadiness.

Because I’m a fanatic angler, I am rather meticulous when it comes to my coarse fishing tackle. I’m very proud to have the Daiwa Aggrest reel in my tackle box, and fully advocate it.
